Samaritan’s Emergency Relief
Saint Peter’s partnership with Samaritans to provide Emergency Relief services for people in crisis in need of financial, material and other emergency assistance has multiple positive outcomes for both the clients and the volunteers and of course, the parish family. We are a parish that is committed to service and mission and this outreach ensures that we are able be there when people need us most with food assistance and the ability to refer our clients to other services to meet their broader needs.
Emergency Relief operates every Thursday from 10 am – 3 pm in the Parish Hall at 52 Banks Street, East Maitland, and is able to provide assistance with financial counselling, emergency food parcels, and general guidance for those in need.
Appointments can be made by phoning 0407 781 515 on Thursday only, and clients will be required to bring with them their latest printed detailed income and asset statement, an original Energy Bill or any current accounts that are overdue or nearly overdue, and proof of any recently paid accounts.
Saint Peter’s offers a FREE Community Meal every Thursday at 4.30 pm at the Parish Hall, located at 52 Banks Street, East Maitland. Cooked and served by a team of volunteers, a two course meal is provided. Many people come every week while others prefer to come on an occasional basis.
The Community Meal is fortunate in receiving generous support from OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food rescue organisation that collects quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivers it directly to organisations supporting people in need across the country, including our own Community Meal.
We welcome all those who come along – just turn up and you will be made most welcome.
